We would like to extend a big thank-you to Anthony Barnes for the fantastic work he did modifying our trolley. It makes the job of transporting the marquee, table and boxes from storage to our area and back each week so much easier.

Congratulations to Michael Hough for being awarded the George Orrock award at the Cross Country presentation night. The trophy is presented to the male athlete who has been polite, helpful, and shown excellent sportsmanship while competing on ten or more occasions during the cross country season.
Championship Day at Cross Country was held at Jells Park North this year, and despite a smaller than usual turnout from the Fairpark athletes, they all acquitted themselves admirably. Those in attendance collected their trophies from Treasurer Sarah Speight and committee member Paul Turner. Thanks to the Knox Centre's new President, Fairpark's own Russell Speight, for organising the trophies at very short notice.
We hope to see everyone at the Knox Cross Country Presentation Night next Saturday 6th August at St Joseph's Primary School, Boronia.
Our AGM and Presentation Night was held at a new venue this year - Awesome Fun in Kilsyth - due to the unavailability of the track whilst it's being relaid. Congratulations to all of the award winners and thanks to all those that have volunteered for the new committee.

Fairpark athletes score a clean sweep as School Leaders at Kent Park Primary School!!
Congratulations to all of our athletes going into Grade 6 for 2010 at Kent Park PS, all of whom will be Leaders at the school. Well done to Zachary Speight and Emily Power who will both be Junior School Councillors, Josh Crowley who will be Franklin House Captain, and to Paige Spurrell who will be our girl School Captain. Well done everyone.
Apart from the fact that the recognition you have received in achieving these positions is very well deserved, it also adds weight to the argument that active kids do well in life. Best wishes for your final year at Kent Park!!
Another brilliant fundraising result. We reached our target of $700, which will go towards the purchase of medals and trophies for our athletes. A special thank you to all those who contributed on the night, either selling tickets or manning the stall. Also thanks going to the Committee Members for their efforts putting together the hampers and the "Scratchie Tree". They looked brilliant. A big thank you also to all of our Fairpark families, for their donations towards the hampers, and for their wonderful contributions for the cake stall.
We had 14 prizes in total to offer. Special mention goes to the following for their contributions towards our raffle prizes, which were greatly appreciated:
Bree Warren has taken a further 6 seconds off her own club record for the U13G 1500m. The new record time of 5:05.08 is the 4th time Bree has broken the record this season - every time the event has been run. That may be a club record in itself!!!
And Joshua Spurrell has broken his second club record for the season, this time the Boys U9 200m. His time of 31.75 seconds is almost a second quicker than the previous record, that has stood for over 20 years.
Congratulations to Jayne Brown for breaking her own club record in the Girls U7 Shot Put, in a new distance of 4.80 metres.
Representatives of our Committee met at Canopy Outdoors in Bayswater today to go over our order for a portable folding marquee. We hope to finalise the order before Christmas and to have the marquee ready for use by mid January 2010.
Congratulations to Joshua Spurrell for setting a new club record in the Boys U9 100m, our first club record set using the centre's new front straight photo finish timing. Joshua beat the old mark that has stood for over 20 years by the barest of margins in a new time of 15.29 seconds.
Fairpark LAC named as a winner of $2000 McDonald's Sports Grant!!!
Fairpark has been named as one of the seven lucky winners of the McDonald's Little Athletics Sports Grants for 2009. The funds will be used to purchase a portable folding marquee for our club. With this grant and the money raised from the Bunnings Sausage Sizzle we now have the funds available to place the order.
Our thanks to McDonald's Ferntree Gully for supporting our club, with special mention going to Sharon La Pira for her assistance with the application.
A fantastic result which raised just over $1500 to go towards the purchase of a portable marquee for the club. Our thanks going out to the members of the 12 families who helped to run the stall on the day, and also to those who also helped out beforehand with the preparation. Special thanks go to Linda Easton, our Fundraising Co-Ordinator, for her organisational skills and dedication to achieving such a brilliant result. A special mention also to The Cool Store, Dorset Road, Boronia, for supplying the bread at such a competitive price. Next fundraiser scheduled is the Cake stall and raffle on Friday 11th December. Dig out your favourite recipes!!
